This one is tricky. I suspect the lawsuit will fail, but a deal’s a deal. Perhaps a scaled increase over the next several years should have been offered to allow for the individual’s budget adjustments.
The mistake was offering retirement and health insurance to part time elected officials in the first place. They are there to serve the town, not the other way around.
