Upcoming Events at Peru Community Church

The Peru Community Church is pleased to announce special celebrations and events over the coming weeks. All are cordially invited to join with us in worship and special events.

The summer worship service schedule is now in effect. Each Sunday, the worship service is at 9 am from now through Labor Day in the sanctuary, Elm and Pleasant Streets, at the intersection of Routes 22 and 22B in the town of Peru. A coffee hour immediately follows each service in the church’s Fellowship Center across the street at 13 Elm Street.

Sunday, June 19th is Baccalaureate Sunday during which we will honor our graduates (high school and beyond) during the worship service. All grads are encouraged to attend and to wear their graduation attire.

On Sunday June 26th the Rev. David Svenson will lead worship for the last time as interim pastor. Earlier this month, on June 6th, we honored Pastor Dave and his wife Linda, and our Christian Education director Catharine Weiss, with a celebratory potluck brunch following worship. Catharine, who was with us for a year, will be attending seminary starting this summer. On June 12th at the Annual Meeting, an official motion was passed recognizing Pastor Dave and Linda and thanking them for their service. Pastor Dave has served as Interim Pastor since October 2015, and at the end of June they will return to their home in New Hampshire. We thank Pastor Dave and Linda, and Catharine, for their service and dedication, and wish them all well in the future.

July 1st marks the beginning of the Rev. Peggi Eller’s term as Pastor of the Peru Community Church. She will lead worship for the first time on Sunday July 3rd, with a welcoming fellowship hour including Strawberry Shortcake immediately after the 9am service. Reverend Eller, an ordained minister of the United Methodist denomination, comes to us from the Binghamton area. We enthusiastically welcome her to the North Country.
