County Legislature Candidate Peter Keenan responds to our questions

1. Summarize your educational background, primary employment, a little about your family and community involvement.

I am a graduate of Peru Central School and Clinton Community College.  I also attended PSUC. I retired from Clinton Correctional Facility as an officer.  I drove school bus for twenty years and was a Peru Town Justice for twenty-four years. During the Korean Conflict, I spent two years in the U. S. Army on the signal corp.

I was married to the former Mary Ann King from Chazy Lake for over fifty years.  We had four children and four grandchildren.  Both Mary Ann and I were involved in youth programs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and many other Church and community activities.

2. How will your background assist you as a county legislator?

I have been able to communicate with people from all walks of life through the years.  I have had experience with large budgets at the Dannemora Federal Credit Union as a Board member and with the Peru Town Court as the Town Justice.

3. What county issues concern you the most?

The further development of the Plattsburgh Airport is a primary concern as well as keeping the County budget within the 2% tax cap, if possible.

4. How would you address these issues?

I would investigate these issues as completely as possible to determine all available solutions.

5. Why should a person vote for you?

I have been able to deal with people and issues and could devote full time to the County issues if necessary.
