Gallery Cooperative at The Strand Center for the Arts in June

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Strand Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce the opening of its Gallery Cooperative in June 2017, with photographer Ron Nolland as the featured artist. This forthcoming exhibit, a First Weekends Art Walk Event, will take place in The Strand Center Community Gallery on Friday, June 2 and reception that is free and open to the public will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. that evening.

The Gallery Cooperative is a collection of artists, each expert at their chosen medium. As well as the featured artist, Ron Nolland, painters Lorrie Mandigo, Carol Hochreiter, Louise Patinelli, Gordon LeClaire, and Judy Guglielmo will be present. In addition, these artists will be joined by ceramicist Nancy Armitage, and photographers Denise Duprey and Frank Hochreiter.

Photographer Ron Nolland, the Cooperative’s featured artist, is a constant exhibitor in Strand Center for the Arts’ Member shows and all the Off-Site Galleries. Nuland’s solo shows at local galleries are always well received and he is regularly selected for juried exhibitions. His work is also featured at Plattsburgh International Airport; a permanent collection at Inn at Smithfield Best Western includes Nolland’s black and white pieces in the Conference Room and large color landscapes in the hotel lobby.  Nolland’s photography was recently featured in Blueline, an Adirondack literary magazine.  An Adirondack Life Photography Contest Award Winner, he also provides custom photography and exclusive pieces for clients.

Gallery Director, David Monette stated, “We’re always looking for ways to increase the exposure of artists in our community. This Gallery Cooperative, with this collection of amazing artists, is a great way to do that. We’re really excited to make this happen.”

This unique exhibit will be on view in The Strand Center Community Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh from June 2 to June 30, 2017. The exhibition opening is Friday, June 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free to the public and refreshments will be served. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
