Congressman Owens claims his office can help you deal with the bureaucracy

I hear too often how difficult it is to get our government to work for us. I have met with hundreds of Upstate New Yorkers who have worked for months – or even years in some cases – to collect benefits and payments that they are due. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about one of the success stories my office has facilitated as we continue to help Upstate New Yorkers navigate the bureaucracy of federal agencies. Many Americans fall through the cracks of our government bureaucracy, failing to receive tax credits for which they have worked hard to qualify. One resident of Morrisonville found himself in this situation, experiencing difficulty receiving his 2010 tax refund. Thankfully, he contacted my office and we were able to work with the IRS and deliver his tax refund – totaling more than $10,000 – within two weeks. This Morrisonville resident’s situation is typical of many I see throughout the community, in that all it took was a simple inquiry from my office to clear up confusion with the IRS, allowing them to release the refund to the North Country taxpayer.
My office can provide assistance with various other agencies in addition to the IRS. I have been proud to assist Upstate New Yorkers with education, disability, Social Security, VA, and various other benefits in every corner of New York’s 23rd Congressional District.
