School Board Meets Tonight and Again on March 29th

From the office of A. Paul Scott, Superintendent of Schools

Peru Central Central’s Board of Education is slated to meet at 6 PM this evening for an executive session discussion with search consultant Craig King, District Superintendent of this region’s BOCES. The Board will be examining and discussing the employment history of the applicants for the soon-to-be vacant Superintendent of Schools position, due to the upcoming retirement of A. Paul Scott, Peru Central Superintendent of Schools. No public session business or school board actions are anticipated tonight.

In addition, the Peru Central Board of Education will launch its fifth public meeting on budget development this coming Tuesday, March 29th at 6 PM at the school district’s community room, adjacent to the main entrance of Peru High School. At the public meeting Tuesday, it’s anticipated the school board will:

  • Receive an update on Champlain Valley region’s media conference on public education, slated for noon on March 29th at the Peru CSD community room.
  • Examine the results of a March 2011 statewide survey of school superintendents by the New York State School Boards Association.
  • Evaluate the status of Albany’s progress toward a state budget plan, which is due by Friday, April 1st.
  • Engage in discussion with the school board’s budget advisory committee members regarding draft recommendations from the school board’s budget advisory committee.
  • Receive at the meeting and discuss the updated set of $1.15M cost reductions slated for July 1st forward, as part of Peru CSD’s response to the Governor’s proposed $2.62M state aid cut to Peru CSD, July 1st forward.

As is customary practice at Peru Central, an information packet will be available to district residents who attend the school board’s March 29th public session budget development meeting. The intent of the information packet is to encourage district residents to follow along as the school board attends to key matters and topics that evening.
