Owens to Hold District-Wide Telephone Town Hall Tuesday; conversation to focus on jobs and the economy, but open to all issues

WASHINGTON – In an ongoing effort to conduct an open discussion about the issues that affect Upstate New York, Congressman Bill Owens will hold a telephone town hall next Tuesday, July 12th.  Beginning at 6:45 p.m., Owens will update callers about his work to create jobs in Upstate New York, and then take questions from constituents during the hour-long call.

“We have seen success along the lines of job creation with recent announcements from several companies in Clinton, Franklin, Jefferson and Oswego counties — but there are still many unanswered questions for those looking for jobs in Upstate New York,” said Owens. “I am pleased to have the opportunity to provide a forum for constituents to voice their concerns and discuss what is important to them.  This is another great opportunity for Upstate New Yorkers to ask me a question, share what is on their mind, or just listen to the conversation.”

A random sample of 40,000 residents in New York’s 23rd Congressional District will be chosen to participate in the conference call Tuesday evening morning.  To request a phone call invitation, constituents from NY-23 can email their name and number to ny23townhall@mail.house.gov
<mailto:ny23townhall@mail.house.gov> or call the Congressman’s Watertown office at 315-782-3150.

The telephone town hall conference call is offered as a convenient way for constituents in New York’s 23rd Congressional District to stay up-to-date on the issues of the day.

To bring a higher level of service to constituents in a large district, Owens has held traditional live town hall meetings throughout NY-23, a congressional district that spans 14,000 square miles and encompasses all or part of eleven different counties in Northern and Central New York.  Additionally, Owens and his staff have prepared more than 50 mobile office hours at locations throughout the region to meet with Upstate New Yorkers who may not have time to travel to their local office.

Those unable to participate in Tuesday’s telephone town hall can contact Congressman Owens by calling any of his offices in New York or Washington, visiting his website at http://owens.house.gov <http://owens.house.gov> , connecting with him on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/repbillowens <http://www.facebook.com/repbillowens> , or following him on Twitter at  http://www.twitter.com/BillOwensNY <http://www.twitter.com/BillOwensNY> .
