Rural Peru and Schuyler Falls homes burglarized

By John T. Ryan

Burglars entered four homes in Peru and Schuyler Falls area over the past few days making off with guns, jewelry, and television – anything that can be easily picked up. The Peru burglaries occurred on the Connors Rd. and Mannix Rd. The Schuyler Falls crimes occurred on Shingle Street and the Morrisville Rd.

A State Police spokesman said that in a crime of this nature someone (usually a woman) knocks on a home’s door and asks for directions. If no one is home the burglary takes place.

If you are at home when someone knocks and asks for directions, try to get their vehicle’s license plate number and the make and color of their vehicle.  If you see unusual vehicles or activity at a neighbor’s home also be observant. Report any information you gather to the Plattsburgh State Police at 563-3761.
