2013 Leo Bourgeois Tournament Raises $4,000 for Scholarship Fund

Dear Editor:

Friday, Oct. 11th was a beautiful warm autumn day for the 72 golfers who took to the tees for the 4th annual Leo Bourgeois Memorial Golf Tournament to raise money for Mr. B’s scholarship fund for Peru Central School seniors.

Because of the generosity of sponsors, donors and golfers, $4,000 was raised for the Leo Bourgeois Memorial Scholarship fund.  I am pleased to announce that since the scholarship’s inception three years ago, $6,600 in scholarships have been awarded to six PCS students pursuing post-secondary educations.

Tournament Results: 

Michael Rock, John Rock, Randy Rock and Kyle Rock shot a low gross score of 59 to claim first place honors for the Rock Boys Team.  Winning second place honors with a low gross score of 60 was the St. Clair Team consisting of Steve St. Clair, Casey St. Clair, Chris Dukett and Matt Bruno while Dexter Clemons, Robert Meier, Dave Corrigan and Jim Corrigan shot a low gross 65 to take home third place honors for their team.  The TD Bank Team with golfers Christina Mullen, Diana Padron, Patti LaGoy and Germaine Hicks were recognized with the “Most Honest Score” award.   Germaine Hicks and Jim Duprey won closest to the pin for the women and men respectively while Susan Gilman and Barnard Woodward claimed honors for driving closest to the line.  Three skins were awarded; one each to the St. Clair Team for the lowest score on Hole 13, the Rock Boys Team (Hole 16), and the Duprey Team (Hole 17).  Sherry Dobbs was the winner of the 50/50 raffle.

PCS alumni golfers from as far away as California, Colorado, Florida and Georgia along with some Vermonters participated in this year’s tournament.
