PCS Planning Team and Committees to Meet Thursday on Peru 2020

The next step in the Peru 2020 strategic planning process will be a meeting of the volunteers serving on the Planning Team and Working Committees, slated for this Thursday, June 19th, from 6 to 8 PM in the cafeteria.

The session was intentionally scheduled to occur as soon as possible after the first meeting of the planning team held on June 12th, in order to maintain the momentum and focus on the goals of the planning project.

At that first session, participants were introduced to each other and to the process that will be followed in order to create the district’s strategic plan. The first work item was to conduct an analysis of the district’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT Analysis). The SWOT Analysis is a tool for better understanding the current state of the organization and the internal and external factors that impact it.

The team members then worked on identifying the top six Key Issues that need to be addressed with this strategic plan. After breaking up into two groups and then coming back together, the participants agreed that the Key Issues for the district are: Communication; Engaging / Connecting with Students; Trust / Building Relationships; Developing Strengths; Allocating Resources; and, Adapting to Change.

The planning volunteers also crafted a Vision Statement for the district (Preparing Our Students for Success) and reviewed the Mission Statement that was created earlier for the district – opting to keep it without changes, after determining that it was consistent with the new Vision Statement.

As will be the case for future meetings, the June 12th session ended by communicating the steps completed and the plans for the next meeting.

If you would like to be a part of the planning process, there is still time to volunteer on one of the five sub-committees. Simply provide your name, contact information (including the best mailing address, phone number and email address to reach you) and any committee preference you may have by email to vision@perucsd.org; by calling (518) 643-6004; or, via regular mail to Superintendent Patrick Brimstein, Peru Central School District, 17 School Street, Peru NY 12972.

Committee meetings will be held at the most mutually convenient times for the participants and facilitated by CITEC strategic planning experts in order to identify opportunities and develop the ideal ways to realize those, with a final plan prepared for PCSD to begin acting on later this year.

More information on the strategic planning process as well as details from meetings held to date can be found on the Superintendent’s pages under the District tab of the PeruCSD.org website.
