A Brief But Informative Meeting

Bridge Trafic Reduced to One Lane

Jane Brelia Reappointed
Dog Control Officer Responds to 28 Calls Over a Two-Week Period

The 15-minute Peru Town Board Meeting of September 25, 2018 was chaired by Deputy Supervisor Jim Douglass. Supervisor Brandy McDonald was excused.

Traffic on the Davern Road Bridge, between the River Road and the Union Road, has been reduced to one lane and a 6-ton weight limit has been set by NYS Department of Transportation because of deterioration of the bridge’s northern side. While the Davern Road is a town road the bridge is a Clinton County-owned bridge. Clinton County had planned to replace the bridge in 2018; however, the project was delayed. Hopefully it will be replaced in 2019. Town of Peru Highway Superintendent Michael Farrell stated that there is a possibility that the bridge might be completely closed this winter.

The Main Street Upgrade project has been delayed once-again thanks to NYS’s slow-acting bureaucracy. The Town is awaiting Minority-Owned Business Enterprise waiver from the NYS Department of State. A response is expected by Friday of this week. It’s very possible that the project will be delayed until 2019.

Upon the recommendation of the Clinton County Office of Assessment, the Board reappointed Jane Brelia to the Board of Assessment Review for a 5-year term effective January 1, 2019. Deputy Supervisor Jim Douglass thanked Mrs. Brelia for her longtime service on the Board. Mrs. Brelia has served for at least 15 years.

Dog Control Officer Michael Drollette received 28 problem phone calls since the Board’s September 10th meeting. Three dogs were confined, 8 dogs were licensed and 1 ugly, uncontrolled dog was euthanized.
