The National Weather Service in Burlington has expanded the
 
Flash Flood Watch to include portions of northern New York and northwest Vermont, including the following areas, in northern New York, Eastern Clinton and Western Clinton. In northwest Vermont, Grand Isle.
 
From this afternoon through Wednesday morning
 
Heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected from today into early Wednesday morning. The expected heavy rainfall rates have the potential to cause localized flash flooding, especially across complex terrain and poor drainage urban areas.
 
Localized sharp rises on streams and rivers are expected overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning across the watch area. A few rivers such as the Ausable may approach flood stage.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
 
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
