One of the North Country’s favorite jazz ensembles – the Wickmoore Jazz Trio at the Harborside

A special treat is in store this weekend: an album release party taking place at the Harborside, featuring one of the North Country’s favorite jazz ensembles: the Wickmoore Jazz Trio!
Brothers Nelson Moore (drums, vocals) and Eli Moore (bass) were born and raised in Saranac before going on to complete degrees in musical studies at SUNY Plattsburgh.
The third member of the trio, pianist Vihan Wickramasinghe, was born in Sri Lanka — but did not discover his passion for jazz until he was in Plattsburgh, studying at Clinton Community College. How these three artists met one another, and how their trio evolved into one of the region’s most highly respected jazz combos, is a fascinating locally based story that underscores the unifying power of music.
Lounge Lizards, their brand-new album entirely of original works composed by these three musicians during COVID-19, will receive its premiere at this upcoming Saturday’s concert, played in its entirety for the first time. Adding to the program will be the smooth jazz, funk, and blues classics for which the Wickmoore artists have become highly acclaimed throughout the North Country and beyond.
High-resolution photos are below, as is the press release for this concert. If you would like to interview the three musicians, I can put you in touch with them. If you would like audio samples of their work, that can be arranged as well.
Thank you greatly for your continued support of live music in our region! I look forward to hearing from you.
