Downed Tree Hits Power Light Igniting Grass Fire
March 30 Peru – The Peru Fire Department extinguished a grass fire at the corner of the Mannix Rd. and Old Town Road this afternoon. High winds felled a dead tree on a power line adjacent to Old Town Rd. Peru firefighters successfully extinguished the fire before it could further spread. NYSEG crews also responded to shut off power, fix the line, and restore service. Quaker Springs residents lost power for about two to three hours.
