Join the Peru Lions club on Wednesday, November 24th for the 44th running of an amazing Adirondack Coast tradition, the John P. Adams Memorial Turkey Trot. Proceeds benefit the charitable work of the Peru Lions Club. Click here to register.

This year’s race takes place in-person and also virtual (wherever you are and wherever you’d like to run)!
In-Person – The in-person race returns to Peru Central School! The 5k and the 10k** start at 9am and will feature a chip-timed, staggered start (you can start the race anytime between 9am and 9:10am). Bib pickup will be on race morning and all activities will be outside, with some weather protection provided by the bays of the Peru Central School bus garage.
Awards will be given to the top three men and top three women in the in-person 5k and the 10k.
Route Adjustments: We’ve made a few route adjustments to ensure a proper distance and to make our socially-distant race more runner friendly. Please review the maps
**ATTENTION: We’ve updated the 10k route to make it a true 10k. We added a short out-and-back on Twin Creek Drive (off of Barney Downs Road).
All runners will receive the commemorative 2021 Turkey Trot Hero Spoon: Elegant yet sophisticated, the Turkey Trot Hero Spoon is a compliment to any Thanksgiving Day meal. Be the talk of the table when you stroll in with your own utensil, forged from the fires of running traditions and food comas. Fend off Uncle Harold for that last biscuit or shovel those mashed potatoes with swift and glorious conviction.
Virtual Race – The window for running the Peru Turkey Trot begins on Wednesday November 24 at 6am and ends on Thanksgiving Day (11/26) at noon. You can run anytime during this period, but we encourage you to keep the tradition going and run on Thanksgiving morning. On race morning, you’ll get a text or email (make your choice during registration–we recommend text, which makes results submission SO easy!). It will include instructions on how to text or email results when you are finished. Run or walk your 5k or 10k during that time with friends and family (make sure they register!). Your results will be uploaded to the race website and will appear with the other virtual Peru Turkey Trot runners who ran with you!
Spoon pick-up times are on Thanksgiving morning from 8am-11am at the Peru Central School. Or, you can opt to have it mailed to you for an extra $5 (You must register before 11/19 for it to arrive before Thanksgiving!).
The Peru Lions Club consists of people who represent a cross section of our community. Chartered in 1945, the Peru Lions Club continues to serve the community in a variety of ways. We live by our motto “WE SERVE” and where there is a need, you will see a Lion. A prime example are the free eye screenings we provide to incoming kindergartners, day cares, any child between the ages of 1 and 5, across upstate NY. While our main goal is to aid the visually impaired and blind, our club contributes to over 18 service projects. 100% of YOUR donation at our Turkey Trot and other fundraisers goes back to your local community. Thank you as always for your support.
