Repairs made but boil water order still on

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 – Peru – Peru Water and Sewer personnel worked until the early morning hours to restore water service to hamlet water users. On Tuesday, major water line breaks at Elm St. “S” turn interrupted service. Pressured water quickly filled a nearby construction project trench. After several hours, pumps lowered the water, enabling crews to repair the broken line; however, when they recharged it, a School Street line burst. Crews worked until after 1 a.m. this morning to fix that break. This morning town highway personnel are preparing to pave the School Street repair area.
The system-wide boil water order continues. The Water-Sewer Department will send three samples for lab testing today. Water Superintendent Courtney Tetrault said he is hopeful that the Health Department will give his clearance to lift the boil order tomorrow, if not Friday.
