PLATTSBURGH (July 2, 2026) — Three Clinton Community College faculty members have been recognized with 2026 SUNY Chancellor’s Excellence Awards, among the highest honors conferred on faculty and professional staff throughout the State University of New York system.
The awards recognize outstanding achievement and a commitment to excellence in teaching, adjunct instruction and faculty service.
This year’s Clinton Community College recipients are Mary Lou Allen, adjunct professor of computer science, who received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching; Gina Lindsey, professor of humanities, who received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching; and Dawn Maille, professor of nursing, who received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.
Allen brings extensive professional experience to the classroom and lab, combining rigorous academic standards with hands-on learning opportunities that help students develop practical skills. She is committed to helping students achieve their academic goals through well-structured coursework with clear objectives and engaging instruction. Students have praised her ability to make challenging subject matter approachable and enjoyable.
Lindsey creates learning experiences that challenge students to achieve academic excellence while actively engaging in the educational process. She teaches a wide range of courses in multiple formats and employs varied instructional strategies to meet the needs of her students. Through ongoing scholarship and professional development, she remains current in her field and brings new knowledge and perspectives into the classroom.
Maille’s service to the nursing department and the college reflects her dedication to students, the institution and the broader community. In addition to teaching and mentoring future nurses, she works alongside former students at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital – University of Vermont Health, where she continues to provide professional guidance and support. During her ongoing involvement with the college’s nursing club, she has helped expand opportunities for community service and civic engagement.
“Mary Lou, Gina and Dawn represent the very best of Clinton Community College,” said President Ken Knelly. “Their dedication to our students, their professions and our college community exemplifies the excellence these awards are intended to recognize. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the impact they make every day.”
The SUNY Chancellor’s Excellence Awards acknowledge and provide systemwide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and the ongoing pursuit of excellence by faculty and staff.
