Battle of Valcour Interpretative Center Dedicated

Peru Boat Dock, October 10, 2026 – Many people turned out on this beautiful fall morning to dedicate the Battle of Valcour Interpretive Center. Peru Town Supervisor Craig Randall welcomed everyone on behalf of the Town of Peru. The setting was perfect, as the Center overlooks the site of the battle. Gunboats on Lake Champlain fired loud cannons several times during the ceremonies. Speakers pointed to the battle’s important role in the American Revolution. Laying wreaths to honor the American and British fallen capped the well-organized event.
Many people and organizations helped make the America250 event possible, including the America250 Committee, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the town of Peru, the Clinton County Historical Association, American Legion Posts 1619 and 912, Saranac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership.
