Happy New Year to you and yours!
By John T. Ryan
The Peru Gazette extends its wishes to our readers for a happy, healthy and successful 2009. We hope that you and your families prosper in every way possible.
We also hope for the growing success of our online news service for Peru. Perugazette.com went public on September 17, 2008. We started counting visitors on October 15 and since that date the site has been visited 5,172 times (an average of 67 visits daily) and has been viewed in forty-two states and seven countries.
We are hopeful that 2009 will bring more community involvement. We need more talented people to lend a hand to this endeavor in the form of story tips, photos. comments and submitted stories.
Thanks so much to all the people who stepped forward to help in 2008. Peru residents have come forward with supportive comments both online and in person. All the town’s elected officials and employees have been extremely cooperative. School Superintendent A. Paul Scott has been very supportive. The Peru Community Church has been an almost continuous source of news. Joanne Kennedy has been kind enough to submit several story ideas and wonderful photographs. This publication would not be possible without the ideas and proofreading skills of my wife Jean. If you find an error, it’s probably a story that she was not given to review. I thank her for all she does each and every day.
