By John T. Ryan Effective May 23, 2016, Robert Guynup will be the Town of Peru’s Code and Zoning Enforcement Officer (CEO). Approximately 20 volunteers planted about 225 trees this morning at Heyworth/Mason Park. The goal was to prevent or reduce river erosion. Town of Peru 2016 Presidential Primary Election Results Not including 43 Affidavit Ballots and 14 Emergency Ballots Republican Party Donald Trump 299 John Kasich 159 Ben Carson 6 Ted Cruz 94 Democratic Party Bernie Sanders 349 Hillary Clinton 128 1,050 or 39% of Peru’s 2,838 Registered Republicans and Democrats cast ballots.

Turnout Very High For A Primary

Registered Republicans and Democrats were lined up at noon to vote in the Presidential Primary when polls opened at the St. Augustine’s Parish Center. Voting continues until 9 p.m. The Peru Gazette will be there when the votes are counted. We’ll post the Peru results as soon as possible.
