Anthony Politi, MD Obituary

Dr. Politi owned and operated Adirondack Medical Practice at Glenwood Plaza, 3384 Route 22, since May 1, 2001

Dr. Anthony F. Politi, 68, of Willsboro passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Dr. Politi was born in Mount Vernon, NY on February 24, 1955, the son of Anthony and Rita (Mariano) Politi, Sr. Known as “Tony” or “Doc” to family and friends, he is survived by his wife of 31 years Janet Politi and children Sam and Olivia. He is predeceased by his father and mother.

Anthony grew up in Westchester County, New York with his brothers Joseph and Peter, graduating high school from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. Afterwhich, he went on to pursue a degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He realized his passion for medical science and continued his education at CW Post, Long Island University. Ultimately, he had a conversation with his father that led him home to the old country, where he studied medicine at the University of L’Aquila School of Medicine in L’Aquila, Italy. There he became fluent in Italian, fell in love with his home culture and after 3 years abroad, he returned home to graduate from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan.

After graduating med school, his colleagues and best friends convinced him to move to Salem, Massachusetts, North Shore Medical Center where he was a resident for 2 years and spent a 3rd year as Chief Resident. There he made the best decision of his life and met his now wife, Janet Wightman Politi.

12 years in Ipswich and the birth of his 1st child Samuel, led him to his dream of moving to the Adirondacks where he spent summers as a child with his family.

Living in Willsboro, he welcomed his 2nd child Olivia as well as opened his Peru, NY practice in 2001.

22 years as the Physician, specializing in internal medicine, and Medical Director at Adirondack Medical Practice from which he started on his own, gave him many friends and colleagues who he admired dearly. Those whom he cared for praised his bedside manner, his diligent efforts, and his outgoing personality. Many have even said they actually looked forward to going to the doctor, because of him.

In 2023, Tony stepped down to focus on his happiness and health.

Tony was an eclectic man with many hobbies, focused around his love for the Adirondacks. He loved to hike, camp, fish, ski, travel around the area, and could be found if not there, in his garden. He admired the lake on which he moved to, frequently boating, cliff jumping and exploring waterfalls along the shore.

As an eternal learner, Tony was a true bookworm, and loved to read anything he had his hands on. He read the paper daily, and dove deep into US History through various sources. His love for knowledge also challenged him to master joys such as cooking, and landscaping, two other passions that kept him busy.

As Tony was often quoted saying, “dogs are better than people,” please send donations in his name to your local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru NY on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 from 11am to 1pm. All friends and former patients are welcome to attend.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.

To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Anthony, please visit our floral store.

DINAPOLI: FORMER MORLEY FIRE COMPANY TREASURER ORDERED TO PAY $50,000 FOR THEFT OF PUBLIC FUNDS

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced that the former treasurer of the Morley Volunteer Fire Co., Cindi Perkins, was yesterday ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution and sentenced to serve five years of probation for stealing from the fire company. Perkins, 58, previously pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the fourth degree in November 2023.

“Ms. Perkins diverted money meant to protect her community to line her own pockets,” DiNapoli said. “Thanks to my partnership with District Attorney Greg Pasqua and the State Police, she has now been held accountable and restitution ordered.”

During the last three years that she was Treasurer  for the fire company, from 2016 to 2019, investigators found she had made unauthorized cash withdrawals at ATMs in the Del Lago Resort & Casino and the Turning Stone Resort Casino. She also wrote checks to herself from the fire company’s account and pocketed money, including some from fundraisers, that she was supposed to deposit.

Investigators were able to match Perkins’ deposits into her personal account with similar cash amounts that had been paid to the fire company. She paid for groceries and other personal expenses with the money.

Perkins was sentenced in St. Lawrence County Court by Judge Gregory P. Storie.

In total, $1,000 was donated to the JCEO.

Town of Plattsburgh Supervisor Michael Cashman reports damage to Veterans Park

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you about an unfortunate incident that occurred at the Battlefield Memorial Gateway (Veterans Park). Our team has been alerted to significant damage caused by a reckless driver, and we are currently assessing the full extent of the situation. We want to express our gratitude to caring individuals who were walking on the Purple Heart Trail and promptly reported the damage afterwards. Your vigilance helps us uphold the integrity of the space dedicated to honoring our Veterans. Just last November, the Town f Plattsburgh and Clinton County American Legion celebrated the completion of Phase I of the Gateway with the dedication of the Purple Heart Trail. The intentional destruction of this meaningful space is disheartening and unacceptable. We are deeply disturbed by the actions of the individual responsible. Not only did they harm the physical grounds, but their recklessness also dishonors the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country. We are committed to restoring the Battlefield Memorial Gateway to its rightful state as be begin Phase II. Let us ensure that such acts of disrespect do not go unanswered. Let us stand united in condemning such behavior and continue to cherish and protect the sacred spaces that honor our Veterans. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact the Town of Plattsburgh Supervisors Office 518-562-6813. Together, we can uphold the values of respect and gratitude that our Veterans deserve. We will not be deterred from building a space that honors our Veterans, and tells the American Story right in our backyard.
