The Department of Social Services will conduct an information and orientation meeting for anyone with questions about becoming a foster parent on Tuesday, January 11th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 13 Durkee Street in Plattsburgh. Caseworkers and one or more foster parents will be there to answer questions and to describe the foster care program. VTDigger has grown from a $16,000 a year nonprofit with no employees to a $2 million nonprofit daily news operation with a staff of 25. TROY, NY (01/07/2022)– Allison Beattie of Peru was named to the Fall 2021 Dean’s List at Hudson Valley Community College.

Beattie is studying in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the Troy, NY college.

The Dean’s List recognizes those full-time students and part-time students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of 3.00 to less than 3.50 and who received no grade of “D,” “F,” “I,” “Z,” or “W” on their record for that term. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successfully.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it enrolls nearly 10,000 students and is known as a leader in distance learning and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 80,000 successful alumni.

ALBANY, NY (01/07/2022)– Rylee Desso, of Peru, NY, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2021 semester at The College of Saint Rose. Desso is majoring in Early Childhood & Childhood Education: B-6.

Full-time undergraduate students who complete a minimum of 12 graded credit hours and who achieve a semester average of 3.5 without a D, F, or Incomplete are eligible for the dean’s list.

The College of Saint Rose (www.strose.edu) is a dynamic, progressive college in the heart of New York’s capital city where teaching is the first priority. The Saint Rose experience empowers students to improve themselves and the world around them.

“It’s one of the toughest sports to participate in,” said Gary Edwards, Peru wrestling head coach. “Some come out and they don’t last too long because it is too hard for them.”  A special athlete, takes a special coach. At 75 years young, Edwards has been the face of Peru wrestling for about five decades.
