Maiden Lane to Remain Closed on Friday

The Town of Peru Water & Sewer Department will continue to keep Maiden Lane closed from State Route 22 to Holden Ave on Friday,  September 3rd  from 7:00 am til 5:00 pm to install a sewer line.

There will be NO through traffic including Emergency vehicles during that time period.

+13 Additional Covid Positives in Clinton County

Since our 9/1 update, 13 additional lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive cases have been reported.
CCHD strongly recommends that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, return to mask wearing in indoor public places and crowded outdoor settings. CCHD also recommends residents avoid large gatherings. If residents have attended a large gathering they should monitor for symptoms and mask up for 14 days after the event to protect those around them. If they hear of any positive (or rumored positive) cases that attended the same event they should seek testing, regardless of symptoms or vaccination status.

– CCHD offers free COVID-19 vaccine clinics every Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. To register call 518-565-4848.

According to the North Country COVID Vaccine Dashboard 97,478 total doses of COVID-19 Vaccine were given in Clinton County as of 8/22. As of 8/22, 64% of all Clinton County residents had at least one dose of the vaccine and 60% of residents had completed their vaccine series. 73% of residents 18 years and older have received at least one dose.

Stewart’s Ice Cream and Sherbet Earn Top Honors at the World Dairy Expo!

September 2, 2021— The judging is complete at the 54th annual World Dairy Expo, once again Stewart’s Shops has some of the best dairy products in North America. The judging is based on flavor, body and texture, melting quality, appearance and color.

Stewart’s Shops had a total of six winners at the competition, two first place winners, a second-place finish, as well as three third place finishes.  This year’s competition received over 1,400 submissions from dairy producers across North America.

Stewart’s Shops officially has the best chocolate ice cream in North America, Stewart’s Chocolate Ice Cream was the winner in the Regular Chocolate Ice Cream category.  Stewart’s Mango Dragon Fruit debuted as a seasonal flavor in 2020 and quickly became a customer favorite, it was named The Best Sherbet in Show for the Open Class Sherbet category.  Mango Dragon Fruit now available in half gallons at all shops.

The three third place finishes were in the frozen dessert division—Mint Cookie Crumble in the Mint Ice Cream category, Peanut Butter Pandemonium in the Ice Cream with Peanut Butter category and Milk Chocolate Gelato in the Gelato category.

Also notable, Stewart’s Milk was awarded second place in the Open Class Pasteurized Milk category.

All of Stewart’s Shops dairy products are made fresh at their plant in Greenfield, New York with milk picked up from over 20 local family dairy farms.

 

“We pride ourselves on offering high quality, fresh and local dairy products; our family has been making quality dairy products for over 100 years”, said Stewart’s Shops president Gary Dake. “We are proud to have some of the best dairy products, not just in New York State, but in North America.”

Philly Vanilla, French Vanilla and Crumbs Along the Mohawk, have been honored at the World Dairy Expo in previous years.

Stefanik Announces Grant for Plattsburgh International Airport

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced the Department of Transportation will award Plattsburgh International Airport a grant amounting in $2,929,610 for rehabilitation of its tarmac and taxiway.
“I am proud to announce nearly $3 million in taxpayer dollars will be returned to our district to equip the Plattsburgh International Airport as it provides access to convenient travel for residents of the North Country,” Stefanik said. “I look forward to continuing to advocate for our district to be equipped with the resources necessary to meet its transportation needs.”

ALBANY, NY (09/01/2021)– Rylee Desso of Peru, NY, a(n) Early Childhood and Childhood Education B-6 major, has been recognized by the Thelma P. Lally School of Education at The College of Saint Rose during its 2021 Honors Convocation.
