Repairs to stone pillar should be complete by Tuesday, July 13 

PLATTSBURGH, NY (07/06/2021) – The University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) Beekman Street entrance will be closed to traffic beginning 7 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, July 7 while repairs to a stone pillar are made.  The work on the pillar, part of the hospital’s perimeter fence, is expected to be completed by the end of the day, Tuesday, July 13.

Both CVPH’s Cornelia Street and Prospect Street entrances will remain open. Drivers are asked to use caution and are reminded that the campus speed limit is 15 miles per hour. Pedestrian foot traffic can be heavy at times, especially during the change of shifts.

The Peru School Board of Education will hold its reorganizational and regular monthly meetings on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 6:00 PM and 6:15 PM, respectively.  The meetings will be held in the High School Community Room.  For the regular meeting, it is anticipated that an executive session will take place immediately following the 6:15 PM start, and that the Board will reconvene for public session business at approximately 7:00 PM.   The meeting is open to the public and all current school district COVID-19 safety procedures and protocols will be followed.

• Approval of BOCES Services
• Officer Elections
• Appointment of Personnel
• Board Meeting Dates for 21-22
• Mileage Rate
• Substitute Rates
• Donation Acceptance
• School Lunch Program

“Summer Stream In the Adirondacks” by Dick Brogowski

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Strand Center for the Arts is proud to announce its annual Summer Members Show on view in the Main Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street from July 2 to July 30, 2021. The Summer Members Opening Reception will take place Friday, July 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and is open to the public.

Every year, the Strand Center welcomes works from its members for the Summer Members Show. This collaborative exhibition features a breadth of work including photography, sculpture, painting, pastels, ceramics, stained glass, printmaking and drawing.

Concerning the Summer Member Show, gallery director David Monette stated, “Every day in our community, many times completely unknown to us, we have artists living and working, quite humble about their talents. The Summer Members Show is when these folks can show off their incredibly diverse concentrations of skill.” 

The Summer Members Show will be on view from July 2 to July 30, 2021. The exhibition opening is Friday, July 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. This event is free to the public. Artisan Sign and Design of Peru donated this beautiful new Sullivan Park sign to the Town of Peru. It’s made of high-density urethane and should last many, many years. Town personnel erected the sign.
