Three Clinton Community College Students Named to Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Academic Team

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – Clinton Community College is proud to announce that three students have been named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-New York Academic Team, a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community service among students at New York’s two-year colleges.
Hailee James, a Nursing student graduating this spring, has been recognized with an All-USA Transfer Pathway Award. Drawn to Clinton for its exceptional nursing program, Hailee has excelled both academically and in service to her peers. She is an active member of PTK, serving as the Communications Chair. With a lifelong passion for healthcare fueled by personal experiences, Hailee is driven to make a difference in pediatric nursing. She is excited to begin her career providing compassionate care to children and aims to continue her education by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare field.
Leticia Reynolds, also a Nursing student graduating this spring, has also been honored with an All-USA Transfer Pathway Award. Leticia is the President of the Nursing Club, a member of the Honors Program, and the Membership Chair for PTK. Her interests in pediatrics and psychiatry reflect her commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations, including young patients and individuals experiencing mental health challenges. As a mother of two, Leticia balances her academic success with leadership roles and family life, all while preparing to enter a nursing career focused on care and compassion. She plans to begin working in the nursing field after graduation and take time before returning to school for her BSN.
Amanda Costin, an Industrial/Commercial Electrician student, has been recognized with the All-USA Workforce Pathway Award. Amanda will graduate this spring, having developed strong technical skills in electrical theory and application. She plans to pursue membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and further her education in electrical engineering or theology. Her time at Clinton has not only prepared her for the workforce but also opened new avenues for personal and professional advancement.
These awards celebrate academic excellence and the impact of community college students across the state. All three students exemplify the mission and values of Clinton Community College and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Clinton Community College congratulates Hailee James, Leticia Reynolds, and Amanda Costin on their well-deserved recognition and wishes them continued success in their academic and professional journeys.

Clinton Community College Raises Funds for Veterans’ Transportation Program

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – Clinton Community College money through Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s recent fundraiser, Clinton Market, in support of the Volunteer Transportation Program.
This program provides essential transportation services for veterans traveling between Plattsburgh and the Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York. It ensures veterans can access critical medical care by connecting them with volunteer drivers who generously donate their time and vehicles.
The Clinton Market event was organized and hosted by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for two-year colleges. The fundraiser offered a variety of donated goods, with all proceeds dedicated to helping local veterans get the support they deserve.
“We’re proud of our students and campus community for coming together in support of such an important cause,” said Lee Ann Thomas, PTK advisor at Clinton Community College. “This donation reflects our shared commitment to service, gratitude, and making a difference for those who have served our country.”

Two (2) Public Hearings & Regular Monthly Meeting May 2025
The Peru CSD Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the High School Community Room. An executive session is anticipated immediately following the 6:30 PM start, and the Board will reconvene for open public session business at approximately 7:00 PM. The meeting will be recorded and available on the District’s website at www.perucsd.org.
The meeting is open to the public and current District, County, State and Federal safety procedures and protocols will be followed.
Currently, two (2) public comment opportunities are planned as follows:
First public comment: Related to items on the agenda. Comments are limited to three (3) minutes per speaker.
Second public comment: Comments are limited to three (3) minutes per speaker.
Individuals who are unable to attend the regular meeting in person may submit public comments by emailing perucomments@perucsd.org no later than 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, May 13th. Online comments are also subject to the conditions stated above.

Volunteers braved the rain to make our community even more beautiful

Peru, NY – On Saturday, May 3, approximately 40 volunteers participated in the Town Green Up Day, despite the morning rain. Peru Lions Club President Dave Dalton remarked, “That’s pretty good considering the rain forced us to cancel the previous Saturday. We had to reschedule and change the meeting location from the Fire Department to Rulfs Orchard. We had families with children, including one family with triplets.”
The event was sponsored by the Peru Lions Club, the Peru Central K-5 PTO, and the Peru Central SAVE Club. A special thank you goes to the Peru Lions Club for providing the photos.

Mother’s Day Pancakes Plus Breakfast
Peru – St. Augustine’s Knights of Columbus will serve a “Pancakes Plus” Breakfast on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, at St. Augustine’s Parish Center, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The menu includes Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, Fruit Sauce, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Home Fries, Real Maple Syrup, Coffee, Orange Juice, and Milk.
