Don Lee, Clinton County Republican Committee Chair, reaffirms committee’s support for Stefanik

From the Office of Elise Stefanik

Plattsburgh – Don Lee, Chair of the Clinton County Republican Committee, became the most recent county chair to reaffirm his committee’s support for Elise Stefanik, despite additional candidates jumping in the 21st Congressional District race. Lee released the following statement of support today on behalf of the Clinton County Republican Committee:

“Elise Stefanik came to the Clinton County Republican Committee endorsement meeting and proved to us she is absolutely the best candidate in this race. She knows North Country issues, she’s very intelligent, she’s hardworking and has demonstrated she has the energy and drive to be a forward-looking candidate.

“Her ties to the community and small business experience, coupled with her understanding of the unique needs of the district, make Elise our best candidate to win this seat back, regardless of who else has entered the race recently.

“The Clinton County Republican Committee endorsed Elise last month and did so with very good reason. Our opinion of her as the strongest candidate has not changed and we will continue to support her campaign.”

Doug Hoffman Doesn’t Think Much of the GOP’s Latest Congressional Candidates

A statement received from Douglas Hoffman, Conservative Party Candidate for Congress in 2009

“Where were all these brave men when the incumbent was running?  It took a brave women to drive the incumbent out of the race.  Elise Stefanik is principled and has worked extremely hard to earn the Republican endorsement, not only from the County Chairs but from hundreds of committee men and woman throughout the district.  Unlike 2009, the Republicans have endorsed a true Republican and we should all be getting behind her and supporting her.  She knows Upstate  and Northern New York and will be a great Congresswoman for the 21st District.”

Stefanik Responds to Doheny’s Announcement

Statement from Elise Stefanik for Congress campaign

Last year when I declared my candidacy for Congress, I did so based upon principles and my strong belief that Washington needs new ideas and new leadership. I first entered this race when it was toughest – against a third-term incumbent – and while the opponents may have changed, my campaign remains focused on bringing fresh energy, new ideas and a new generation of leadership to the North Country.

“As the only candidate in this race with small business experience in Upstate New York, I believe my background provides the experience and perspective needed to best advocate on behalf of the challenges of our struggling Main Street economy in the 21st District.

“Over the past year, I have crisscrossed the district and worked hard to build grassroots support.  I am honored by the support and momentum my campaign  has earned from Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents. Our campaign will continue to make the case that we have the best opportunity to win back this seat this Fall and provide new representation and new ideas to Congress on behalf of Upstate New York.

“I welcome the new candidates to this race and look forward to a robust discussion on the issues.”

Peru Gazette Note: On February 12, 2014 Elise Stefanik was endorsed by twelve of the thirteen 21st Congressional District GOP County Chairmen.
