Crete Center Student Pick-up Process Described

Dear Peru School Community,

Time is flying and we are already into October. This is a friendly reminder of this week’s events. We are conducting an evacuation drill on Thursday, October 4th and the campus will be closed at 11:30 a.m. and will re-open at 2:45 p.m. (Dr. Palmer emphazed to the Peru Gazette that all students being picked up for appointments must be picked up prior to 11:30. The campus will be closed to all outside traffic at 11:30.)

This is part of our safety procedures to provide the safest and most orderly environment for our students, staff and administration to work in. Our goals is to prepare our school to be able to handle emergency situations that impact the entire district. We strongly encourage you to support this endeavor and send your child(ren) to school and allow them to partake in the activity. It will be safe, non-threatening and an opportunity for the district to utilize its plan for evacuation.

If you elect to go to the Crete Memorial Civic Center to pick up your child(ren), we will be following the same protocols to sign out your children as we do on campus. You will be required to provide identification at the re- unification site before your child(ren) is released to you. Due to the constraints of the drill, the student pick up area will only be open between 1:20 p.m. and 1:45 pm at the Crete Memorial Civic Center. We have identified in (BLUE) (See Peru Central Website) where the re-unification would take place for the parents. There will also be signs that will assist you in going to the right location for pick up if you choose to do so. Please take a look at the map below.

We strongly encourage you to allow your child(ren) to take the bus home form the Crete Memorial Civic Center. It would provide an opportunity for your child(ren) to see the drill through its entirety and relieve any angst they may have had about the drill. {The Map of the Crete Memorial Civic Center is located on the Peru Central School District web-page and the District’s Facebook page}

Also, students do not have school on Friday, October 5th due to a Superintendent’s Conference Day and Monday, October 8th, Columbus Day.

Sincerely,
Thomas Palmer Ed.D.
