School Evacuation Drill Set For Thursday, October 4th

Dear Peru School Community:

The Peru Central School District will be conducting a district-wide, campus evacuation drill on Thursday, October 4, 2018. All students, faculty and staff that are present that day will participate in the drill. The following will happen during the drill:

The campus will close to the public at approximately 11:35 a.m. on October 4th. This is when the drill is scheduled to begin.

Both the New York State Police and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department will arrive to support the drill.
Although information is circulating in the community that the main roads are being closed, there is no plan to close any roads. If traffic is stopped, it will merely be to allow buses safe passage through an intersection.
Students will be transported to the Crete Center and dismissed from this location once the drill has been completed. Transportation home will be provided by the District.

All students will be transported home at the same time. High School and Middle School students that do not participate in fall sports should arrive home at approximately their normal time.
Elementary students should be arriving home approximately an hour earlier than normal.
The faculty and staff are working very hard to prepare for this drill. Although this is a challenging event, the District feels it is essential to test this component of our District Emergency Response Plan. Precautions are being taken to make this a very safe and successful drill. If you have any questions, please call my office @ 518-643-6002.

Sincerely,

Thomas Palmer, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
