See a very nice local website and help the SPCA

By Carol Solari-Ruscoe

“The Elmore SPCA now has its own dedicated website at www.elmorespca.org <http://www.elmorespca.org/> .  The website is user friendly.  There are links to the shelter’s adoptable cats and dogs, a listing of the Board of Directors and shelter staff, and a contact/feedback email address.  In addition, secure donations can be made directly on the website.  With the ever increasing number of strays, and the cost of sheltering, we are currently seeking emergency donations.  Contributions can be easily made through our website, or by mail to Elmore SPCA, PO Box 686, Peru, NY  12972.  All donations are tax-deductible.  For more donation information, please email carol@elmorespca.org <mailto:carol@elmorespca.org> , or call 534-3484.  Thank you from all the shelter’s homeless pets.

Bob Washboure visits Apache Lake Arizona

From our campsite here we go east on the famous Apache trail, a road that was built over the original Apache trail around 1900 to haul materials to build Roosevelt Dam.  Most of the road is still dirt and has hairpin curves with unprotected drop offs 1500 feet down to the valley floor and fish creek below.  Spectacular scenery as we slowly navigate the steep grades and switchbacks. Peru Primary School Community gives from the heart

By John T. Ryan

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and Peru Central Primary School students and staff had a unique way of celebrating the holiday. For every five items that a classroom donated, a small red heart was placed inside a larger heart. Students could count by 5’s each day to see how many items had been collected. When the hearts were counted today almost 700 items were ready for delivery to the Peru JCEO Foodshelf. Congratulations to the Peru Primary students and staff and everyone who donated to this wonderful program!

Comparing December 2008 to December 2007, the number of Clinton County homes sold (33) increased by 6.5% while the median sales price ($123,500) decreased by 5%.

Here are the 2008 existing single-family home sales figures for Clinton, Essex, Jefferson and Warren Counties as released by the New York State Association of Realtors. Read more »
