Peru Central School enrolled 2,146 students this September. When school closed this past June the school had 2,122 students.  There are 143 students enrolled in kindergarten this September. In June 2008, the kindergarten enrollment was 141 students. Read more »

Picking the beautiful fruit in Peru’s orchards is in full swing following the arrival of hundreds of Jamaican apple pickers. The pickers in Forrence’s Orchard along the Barney Downs Road picked the very popular honey crisp variety, calling them “oney crisp.” The pickers slowly and carefully deposited the apples in bins under the watchful eye of their supervisor.  Honey crisps command some of the highest prices in the maketplace. They said they were picking the red fruit. Orchard manager Seth Forrence said these men are very experienced pickers.
