Here’s a last minute reminder – Please consider shopping at the Peru Aubuchon today (Sunday) and tell all your friends and neighbors to do the same. Manager Steve Duell is donating 10% of weekend sales to the Peru walking trail fund. He’s even planning a hot dog cook-out with proceeds to go to the trail fund. So go hungry (and dress warmly).

The Gazette visited the Peru JCEO Foodshelf this morning and discovered that the foodshelf is short eight Thanksgiving turkeys. If more turkeys aren’t donated, eight families will have to look elsewhere. Can any of our readers help out? The turkeys average 10 to 15 pounds. The foodshelf is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located in the basement of the Peru Town Hall. The phone number is 643-8455.
Our foodshelf story will be posted in the next several hours. You’ll find it very uplifting!

About three weeks ago the Gazette published a story about Peru residents Joanne Kennedy and Lori Clark, Joanne’s daughter Jennie and four of their friends climbing Africa’s Mt. Kilimanjaro. Last week Mt. Kilimanjaro was in the national news when Ann Curry of the Today Show attempted to climb the mountain, but stopped short of the summit. Given all the publicity, the Gazette asked Joanne Kennedy to email us several more beautiful photos. If you enjoy these, please take the time to view Joanne’s slideshow to music.
