Leadership Training Series

• When: One, 2.5 hour class (9am-11:30am), once per week, from May 10^th through June 27^th (8 classes in total)
• Where: All classes are in-person at the North Country Chamber of Commerce – 7061 Route 9, Plattsburgh NY 12901
• Cost: $175 per individual – price includes hot, catered breakfast each morning and a framed certificate upon completion

The leadership training series will teach the skills necessary to be an effective leader in the workplace, and is perfect for anyone who is working toward a promotion, was recently promoted, or just started a new business.

Classes in the leadership training series include: leadership fundamentals, leading a multi-generational workforce, managing/resolving conflict, a primer on key employment laws, providing effective feedback, and more.

Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today honored North Country Underground Historical Association President Jacqueline Madison at the 2022 New York State Senate Outstanding Librarian Awards. Madison, a Beekmantown resident who works out of the North Star Underground Railroad Museum at Ausable Chasm, was one of 10 honorees chosen by a pool of peers and library-related professionals.

In being honored, Madison was commended for “preserving and sharing the lives and stories of Northern New York’s Underground Railroad history” through her work as a podcast contributor and co-author of a book highlighting the history of slaves and free people of color in our region. Stec was pleased to join the Senate in celebrating Madison and giving her an official Senate proclamation honoring her for her achievements and commitments.

 “I’d like to congratulate Jacqueline Madison for being named one of our state’s finest librarians,” Stec said. “Through her work with the North Star Underground Railroad Museum, she provides a vital service and commitment to education and sharing our history. She’s greatly deserving of the New York State Senate Outstanding Librarian Award and it was a pleasure to join in honoring her.”

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Strand Center for the Arts is excited to host “The New Surreal,” artwork created by artist,Alex Reiter, in the Main Gallery. This upcoming exhibit will open in The Strand Center Main Gallery on Friday, May 6, 2022. A free reception will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm that night.

Alex Reiter has pretty much always had an artistic streak. From an early age, he had in him that need to create, to make something from nothing and to have that something look awesome in the process. That streak followed him through Plattsburgh High School, and afterward through the prestigious film department at Purchase, where he graduated in 2002 with a degree specializing in stop-motion animation. And it didn’t stop there. From 2003 until 2006, Reiter used his artistic skills to co-illustrate the New York Times Best Seller, “A Treasure’s Trove,” a fairy tale about a real treasure hunt for parents and children of all ages. It followed him as well to Las Vegas, where he moved in early 2006. While there, Reiter exhibited his surreal pencil drawings at events such as Centennial Hills Magazine’s “First Friday,” NY Jumbo, Henderson Art Fest, San Diego Old Town Art Fest, the Santa Monica Art Fest, and even a one-man show at the Box Office and Gallery Las Vegas.

Reiter’s prolific body of work includes a ten-foot by eight-foot installation of his drawing, “Terror Rail,” at musician, Vince Neil’s Tattoo Shop on the Las Vegas strip, where it was featured in the International Tattoo Art Magazine. Additionally, Reiter’s unique hand-painted drawings can be found at the Rio Hotel and Casino, and in the VooDoo Lounge in Las Vegas.

Concerning Reiter’s work, David Monette, gallery coordinator for The Strand Center for the Arts, stated: “I can’t tell you how great it is to have Alex Reiter’s work in our gallery. He is one of those artists whose body of work is so impressive, so prolific, and frankly, so cool, we are lucky to have him here.”

Reiter now resides back where his artistic streak began, in Plattsburgh, NY, where he continues to create his art and showcase it at Comi-cons, various art festivals, as well as on Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram, and his website, mindfeedart.com.

This unique exhibit will be on view in The Strand Center Main Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh from May 6 to May 27, 2022. The exhibition opening is Friday, May 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. This event is free to the public. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The Peru CSD Board of Education will hold a fully remote special meeting on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 8:00 AM.  The sole purpose of this meeting is to vote on the BOCES (CVES) administrative budget and on the slate of candidates running for open CVES board seats.  At this time, no other action items are anticipated.  The public may view the meeting live via Google Meet at https://meet.google.com/zgj-qsvr-vum.  This meeting will also be recorded and available on the District’s website.
