Stefanik Calls on Governor Cuomo to Reinstate Federal Law Enforcement Access to State DMV Records

From the office of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik sent a letter to Governor Cuomo opposing his decision to block all federal Law Enforcement officers from accessing the New York State DMV database. This comes after Governor Cuomo’s unconstitutional Green Light Law, which gives driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. Federal Law Enforcement have not been notified of this decision.

This irresponsible decision will: Block border patrol officers and border agents from being able to run license plates to check for active warrants.
Block border patrol officers and border agents from being able to confirm if someone is an illegal immigrant with a deportation order or active warrant.
Could result in citizens with an enhanced driver’s license, which serves as a passport to Canada, being unable to return to the U.S. because CPB Officers will be unable to confirm if they have a valid license.

“Another day, another reckless decision from Governor Cuomo’s administration,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. “Revoking federal Law Enforcement’s access to State records is an unconscionable action that will have grave consequences for our immigration system and country as a whole, and will keep our border patrol from being able to effectively do their jobs. Border agents being unable to confirm someone’s immigration status is a national security risk. I urge Governor Cuomo to immediately reverse this action and reinstate federal Law Enforcement’s access to State records for the good of our country.”

An Unique Way To Help The Historical Association

The Clinton County Historical Association has been chosen by Hannaford to benefit from the company’s Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the entire month of December.
